Abstract

Metacognitive skills adalah salah satu keterampilan yang memberikan kontribusi besar bagi calon guru dalam rangka menjadi guru profesional. Keterampilan ini memungkinkan calon guru untuk merencanakan, memonitor, mengevaluasi, dan merevisi pembelajaran yang dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui signifikansi perbedaan metacognitive skills mahasiswa calon guru biologi laki-laki dan perempuan. Subyek penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa pendidikan biologi semester 4 tahun ajaran 2018/2019. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif yang menggunakan analisis uji T untuk mengetahui signifikansi perbedaan metacognitive skills pada mahasiswa laki-laki maupun perempuan. Data metacognitive skills didapatkan dari skor Metacognitive Awareness Inventory for Teachers (MAIT) yang diadaptasi dari Balcikanli (2011). Hasil penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa tidak ada perbedaan signifikan metacognitive skills pada mahasiswa calon guru biologi laki-laki dan perempuan.

ABSTRACT

Metacognitive skill is one of the skills that make a major contribution for prospective teachers to become a professional teacher. These skills make it possible for teacher candidates to plan, monitor, evaluate, and revise their learning. The objective of this study was to determine the significance of differences in metacognitive skills of prospective male and female biology teachers. The subjects of this study were Biology Education students in 4th semester of academic year 2018/2019. This research was a quantitative study using T-test analysis to determine the significance of differences in metacognitive skills of prospective male and female biology teacher. The metacognitive skills data were obtained from the scores on Awareness Inventory for Teachers (MAIT) adapted from Balcikanli (2011). The results of this study showed that there were no significant differences in metacognitive skills of prospective male and female biology teachers.
